long day

March 29, 2007

I really don’t like staying at the library for too long during the day, but there are certain days in which I have to stay for almost the whole day.  I have been at the library since 7:30 this morning, and I made it out once to get some free Chik-Fil-A for lunch (I love college sponsored lunches…especially free ones) but I am stuck back here for another hour until I have my last class.  After that, I am going to meet up with a friend and we are going to listen to the local Catholic Bishop answer questions about the differences in Catholicism and other branches of Christianity.  Of course, I have been thinking of a few questions to ask the Bishop, besides ones like, “So, what it is like…you know…praying to saints?”.  A bit of a joke there, but it’s really interesting how I have been able to have things like this to go to, to wrap my mind around different thought processes and such.  Of course, I will have plenty of it, seeing as how I will be here another year.

spring br (as in breath)

March 19, 2007

My Spring Break is a little shorter than most college students, but I will enjoy it the same. I just finished a presentation in my Graphic Design 1 class and it went well. I am not a fan of constuctive criticism, purely for the fact that people take way too long to talk about other’s work. I would much rather have someone say one or two words of constuctive criticism, rather than a whole dissertation. That being said, our next assignment is to take an existing product company (ie. Budweiser, Coca-Cola, McDonalds) and create a 3-D product placement update (such as creating a new Budweiser label, then affixing it on a bottle. We also have to create a mock-up of how the product would be shown at stores (in Illustrator) and we have to have our secret product, which is something of an promotion that a company would give out to use in getting the point across how or why the product is used. I saw a guy do something similar to this in another class and his secret product was a picture book that showed different products from the company that he created ads for (IKEA). If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be happy to look into (granted, the easier it is, the better I’m off). Well, that’s about it. I did see a preview for a movie called Stardust, which is done by Neil Gaiman (of Mirrormask fame). Even though the trailer has the “Pirates of the Caribbean” theme, it still looks like a great movie.

change is good

March 6, 2007

After seeing some of my friends change to wordpress, I weighed the options of staying with blogger or going with this. I have to agree with Jon’s mentality about this one being cleaner. I also want some place to put up my art (if I ever accumulate any) and I figured this would be a good space for it. Check back for more brodie, coming soon.
